Concept
The concept grew from a love for horror. The queer community often recognizes itself in horror movies and stories by the many similarities that are found between the horror genre and them, like 'the identification with the monster', 'emotional processing', 'the feeling of being different' and 'the tension between seen versus staying hidden'. A lot of times there is also an explicit representation of queer characters and themes in these stories. With all this as a foundation, Queers of the Damned built a strong visual and substantial concept where we are also a safe haven for queer people. The community is always the main focus of our ideas. At the same time, we are a platform for alternative and scarier types of drag. It makes sense that we are also a safe(r) space, which we work hard to achieve at every event by working together with safe(r) space ambassadors. This concept translates to a varied offer of queer arts focused on a drag show and an afterparty. For our line-up we work with established performers and Djs but also with an open call where we give a lot of new promising artists a shot on stage. Because of the last editions we know this is succesful. Besides that we also offer some different arts through some booths were queer art, merch and queer curiosities and so on can be purchased as well as getting tattooed.
Who is Queers of the Damned?
Queers of the Damned is an event organised by and for the LGBTQIA+ community. The central theme is always halloween, even though we organise events outside of this holiday.
The team of Queers of the Damned comprises of different organisers of the queer community:Quatsch Collective
Quatsch Collective is a group of queer artists that are born form the Antwerp 'underground scene'. The word 'quatsch' is German for nonsense and is the noun par excellence to describe the eclectic gang. The collective consists of spooky Omega, enigmatic HannaH Stamina, man-candy Jimmy Kidd and the campy Miss Ditniet. With each of them having talents in music, illustration, visual arts, video, choreography, they accomplished some huge projects on festivals such as Pukkelpop and Tommorowland, then created different events such as 'Klatsch', 'Friends of Dorothy Festival' and so on.Veganarchy
Veganarchy is a collective of people that work towards social justice in the world. They start form an intersectional view, where they don't only focus on humanitarion rights, but also on ecology, animal rights, lgbtqia+ and so on. They have been organising community kitchens multiple times every single month where people can enjoy a fully vegan 3 course meal for a few years. They do this because they believe that food is a basic human right. Their community was born from the need to create an alternate society, where there is room for every single individual and discrimination does not stand a chance. They don't only work on societal change through education about veganism, anarchism, solidarity and mutual aid, the organisation breathes these principles in how they function from day to day and support other events and/or organisations. A few examples of these movements are Extinction Rebellion, Reclaim Our Pride, Queers of the Damned, VZW De Beek, UAntwerpForPalestine, KifKif and so on. This emphasises even more how they are trying to bring together different movements and working on building a connection within society.Brian Damage
Brian Damage is a drag artist that has been organising events for the queer community their entire career.
Starting as a buddy for trans people at T-Buddy and radiomaker at Radio Centraal, Jules found a way to organize and host queer karaokes, lesbian movie nights (Salon Saphique), Queer Punk DIY days and other activities. When Brian Damage was born, Jules combined the art of drag with bringing together a community. This persepective also helped to bring Queers of the Damned to life. Besides Queers of the Damned, Brian Damage also organises and hosts Dokske Goes Drag at Merksemdok. This includes various activities such as drag brunches, christmas shows and so on.
Community
A lot of places where drag shows are hosted in Antwerp, most of the artists and audience are white and cisnormative. They paint a one-sided picture of the drag community. We claim our own space as the alternative little brother with queens, kings and things, alternative music and horror based themes, without losing an eye for the care the people in our community. This apparant "contradiction" makes Queers of the Damned a unique concept. The entire event is also carried by volunteers. People from our community are eager to be part of our creepy family and some even return every single edition to help out. This empowers the community and that family feeling. After the first succesful 'try out' of Queers of the Damned on november 2nd 2023 at 't Werkhuys, we did a 2nd edition at Kavka and a 3rd at Kerkschip. The last location had a max. Capacity of 250 people and was sold out completely beforehand.

About The Venue
General
Please note that the ground floor, which hosts the show, bar, merchandise, and tattoo booths, is fully wheelchair accessible. While the kitchen and dining area are situated on the upper level, we are committed to making our dining experience accessible to all guests. For those who prefer to avoid the stairs, you must ask any Het Bos employee to guide you to the elevator (since the elevator requires a key), or simply request a Safe(r) Space Ambassador to deliver your meal directly to the bar area.

Guests can look forward to an entirely plant-based culinary experience that not only tastes incredible but also helps to minimize our environmental footprint. Seating
We provide priority seating with 20 reserved spaces at the front of the stage for guests with limited mobility. If additional accessible seating is required during the event, our Safe(r) Space Ambassadors are readily available to help make the necessary arrangements.
Capacity
At Queers of the Damned, we proudly welcome our entire diverse community. However, for this edition, we must strictly adhere to Het Bos’s maximum capacity of 220 guests. Should we reach this limit, we will temporarily pause admissions and only allow new entries as space becomes available inside. We are fully committed to providing a wonderful and safe experience for everyone. Your thoughts matter to us, so if you have any feedback following the event, we warmly invite you to connect with us on Instagram!

For your convenience, restrooms are located on both levels of the venue. The downstairs facility includes urinals alongside one seated toilet cubicle, whereas the upstairs facility offers solely seated toilet cubicles. All toilets are genderneutral.

Our space is designed for everyone to feel safe, have fun, and enjoy queer culture and art. Everyone is welcome and are asked to respect our guidelines. No harassment or discrimination.
How to Purchase Tickets
Pay What You Can
Queers of the damned employs a pay-what-you-can system. You decide how much you are able to contribute. The suggested entrance price is €10, but you can choose your contribution starting from €1 to €50. (This minimum amount is only for the online ticket sale)If the starting price of €1 is too much for you, please contact us at [email protected] and we will find a solution together.Are you considering becoming a volunteer? If so, you will receive free admission, non-alcoholic beverages, and a meal.Please keep your confirmation e-mail to show at the entrance. If you lose this e-mail, you can also just show us that you are logged into this e-mail address on your phone as proof of purchase. Not ready to commit? At the entrance you are also able to pay by cash or Payconic. Do keep in mind we have a maximum capacity of 220 visitors. At the entrance on the night itself there will be no minimum amount you have to pay.
Refunds & Cancelations
All ticket purchases are final, strictly non-refundable, and ineligible for cancellation, exchange, or third-party transfer platforms under any circumstances.
Transfer Protocol
Should you choose to transfer or resell your admission credential independently, you bear full responsibility for ensuring the recipient possesses the correct credentials.
The individual attending the event must know and present the exact original email address under which the ticket was registered.
Venue personnel will cross-reference this registered email address against the official attendee manifest at the entry gate to authorize admission.

Please be strictly advised that the initiation of any payment disputes, chargebacks, or unauthorized funds reversals through your bank or financial institution is considered a severe violation of these terms.
Permanent Organizational Blacklist: Engaging in a chargeback will result in the immediate and irreversible termination of your access to all of our platforms. Your credentials will be permanently added to our organizational blacklist, barring you from utilizing any of our current or future services, events, or products.
Affiliate Network Repercussions: Be aware that these restrictions extend far beyond our direct operations. We actively share dispute records with our wider network of affiliated partners, vendors, and associates to prevent fraudulent activity. Consequently, initiating a chargeback will flag your profile across this extended network, which may result in widespread service disruptions, denied entry, or comprehensive account limitations with these third-party entities.

Charter
In case of a breach in the Safe(r) Space agreements, we will act according to the situation and might ask the person in question to leave the party.We also have Safe Space Ambassadors present that will assist you if you have a problem, they are there for a reason so don’t be afraid to reach out.
No Bigotry
No transphobia, racism, ableism, sexism, homophobia, ageism, vegephobia, body shaming, harassment, and general bigotry.Ask for people’s pronouns if you aren’t sure. Mistakes can always be made, but deliberate misgendering is seen as an act of transphobia.
Consent
Do not touch anyone without consent. This goes for your fellow party animals, the volunteers, as well as the performers.
Consent can be withdrawn at any time.
Consent cannot be coerced or compelled by force, threat, deception or intimidation.
Consent cannot be given by someone who is incapacitated (for example by drugs or alcohol)
Consent cannot be assumed based on silence, the absence of “no” or “stop,” the existence of a prior or current relationship, or prior sexual activity.
Only touch a performer if they explicitly invite you to (for example, reaching out their hand, inviting you on stage, etc). Otherwise, stay at a distance from the performer so they have space to move.Do not touch people’s hair or costume, unless given clear consent.Do not take photographs of people without their consent.
The performers love being photographed while on stage. Off stage, always ask first.
Show Etiquette
If you like the performance, feel free to tip the artist! You can buy tips at the entrance.1 tip = 1 €You can throw the tips on stage or hand them to the artist during the show. Do not disturb the performance, wait patiently. Drag takes a LOT of time and effort. Tips are always appreciated!Take lots of pictures and share them on your social media! Make sure to tag @queers.of.the.damned and the performer in question if you can.
If you’ve taken pictures but don’t have social media, but you’re okay with them being used (with proper credit), you can send them to [email protected].Stand close to the stage and show your enthusiasm! Cheer, clap, sing along if you know the song!At Queers of the Damned we get high off atmosphere - hard drugs and excessive alcohol use is not allowed!
Take a Break
The show will be loud, bright and might contain heavy subjects.
Every performance will have the correct trigger warnings in the beginning (such as blood, murder, violence, clowns, spiders, etc.) and you are free to leave the show at any point without being judged.If you need a break, you can talk to a safe(r) space ambassador and/or go outside to decompress.If you want the Safe(r) Space Ambassador to let you know when a specific song or performance is over, you can ask them to keep in touch via text message.
Community Care
Take care of each other. If you see someone is drinking a bit too much, getting harrassed, or getting overwhelmed; talk to them, and make sure to let the Safe(r) Space Ambassadors know.This event is made by the queer community, for the queer community. That’s why we count on your cooperation to make this event a great success.
Safe(r) Space Ambassadors
Our Safe(r) Space ambassadors will be walking around the venue. You can recognise them by their bow. Talk to them whenever you feel uncomfortable or if someone is breaching the safe(r) space guidelines.
They will take you to the backyard (which is a quiet space) to talk and listen. Then, together, we will find a fitting solution for the situation.If you want to be a Safe(r) Space ambassador and help out, you can send an email to [email protected].

Charter
Het hoeft geen Halloween te zijn om bang te worden als je uitgaat in Antwerpen, vooral als queer/trans persoon. We worden vaak lastig gevallen, gepest, uitgelachen, niet serieus genomen, en worden soms zelfs toegang geweigerd in cis gay ruimtes. Uitgaan zou leuk en veilig moeten zijn voor iedereen.In onze space komen queer personen en bondgenoten samen om te genieten van de kunst van drag.Als je een bondgenoot bent, ben je een gast in deze space. We vragen daarom om onze safe(r) space richtlijnen te lezen en je ernaar te gedragen.
In het geval van een overtreding in de Safe(r) Space richtlijnen, zullen wij actie ondernemen en kunnen we de persoon in kwestie vragen het evenement te verlaten.We hebben ook Safe(r) Space Ambassadors die je zullen assisteren bij problemen. Ze zijn er voor een reden, dus wees zeker niet bang om hen te contacteren.
Geen onverdraagzaamheid
Geen transfobie, racisme, validisme, seksisme, homofobie, ageism, vegefobie, body shaming, anderen lastigvallen, of algemene onverdraagzaamheid.Vraag naar mensen hun voornaamwoorden als je niet zeker bent. Je kan altijd fouten maken, maar bewuste misgendering zien wij als transfobie.
Consent (Toestemming)
Raak niemand aan zonder consent (toestemming). Dit geldt voor je mede feestbeesten, de vrijwilligers, maar ook de performers.
Consent kan ten allen tijde terug ingetrokken worden.
Consent kan niet worden afgedwongen door geweld, bedreiging, misleiding of intimidatie.
Consent kan niet gegeven worden door iemand die niet bij zinnen is (bijvoorbeeld door drugs of alcohol)
Er kan niet uitgegaan worden van consent gebaseerd op stilte, de afwezigheid van een “nee” of “stop”, het bestaan van een eerdere relatie of eerdere seksuele activiteit.
Raak enkel een performer aan als die je daarvoor expliciet uitnodigt (bijvoorbeeld door een hand uit te steken, je uit te nodigen op podium). Als dit niet het geval is, geef de performer wat ruimte om te bewegen.Raak geen kostuums of kapsels aan, tenzij met duidelijke toestemming.Neem geen foto’s van mensen zonder hun toestemming.
De performers vinden het geweldig om gefotografeerd te worden op podium. Naast het podium, vraag je het altijd eerst.
Show Etiquette
Als je geniet van een performance, kan je de artiest tips geven! Deze tips kan je kopen aan de inkom.1 tip = 1 €Je kan de tips op het podium gooien of aan de artiest geven tijdens de show. Stoor de performance niet, wacht geduldig op een juist moment.Drag kost HEEL veel tijd en moeite. Tips worden enorm gewaardeerd!Neem veel foto’s en deel die op je sociale media! Zorg ervoor dat je @queers.of.the.damned tagt, en de performer in kwestie ook.Als je foto’s hebt genomen, maar je hebt geen sociale media, en ze mogen gebruikt worden voor die van ons (we vermelden je naam er wel bij), mag je die opsturen naar [email protected].Ga dichtbij het podium staan en toon enthousiasme! Klap, brul en zing mee!Op Queers of the Damned worden we helemaal high van de atmosfeer - harddrugs en overmatig drankmisbruik zijn dus niet toegelaten!
Pauze Nemen
De show zal luid en fel zijn en bevat zware onderwerpen.
Elk optreden zal in het begin de juiste trigger warnings hebben (bijvoorbeeld bloed, moord, geweld, clowns, spinnen, …) en je mag op elk moment de zaal verlaten zonder beoordeeld te worden.Als je een pauze nodig hebt, kan je een safe(r) space ambassador aanspreken en/of even naar buiten gaan om even te ontprikkelen.Als je wilt dat de Safe(r) Space Ambassadors je op de hoogte houden als een triggerend nummer in kwestie afgelopen is, mag je vragen om een update via sms of whatsapp.
Community Care
Draag zorg voor elkaar. Als je ziet dat iemand te veel drinkt, lastig gevallen wordt, of overprikkeld raakt, praat met hen en breng de Safe(r) Space Ambassadors op de hoogte.Dit evenement is gemaakt door de queer community, voor de queer community. Safe(r) Space Ambassadors
De Safe(r) Space ambassadors zullen rondlopen in de zaal. Je kan hen herkennen door de strik die ze dragen. Praat met hen als je je niet op je gemak voelt, of als je merkt dat iemand geen rekening houdt met de Safe(r) Space richtlijnen.
Zij nemen je mee naar buiten om met je te praten. Dan vinden we samen een oplossing voor de situatie.Als jij een Safe(r) Space Ambassador wilt zijn en ons wilt helpen, mag je altijd een mail sturen naar

The Queers of the Damned IV open stage application is hereby officially opened!If you wish to defile the stage of Het Bos together with us Jeepers Creepers, please fill out the following form! We are looking for performers who haven’t had much on-stage experience and who are drooling for a taste. We have five spots available: Will you be one of the un-lucky ones?!Some baseline instructions:
Your performance cannot be longer than 5 minutes.
Be mindful of triggers in your act. You can use This List to see if your performance contains certain triggers, and add them to this form. We allow all kinds of horror at Queers of the Damned, as long as we and the crowd are prepared for them.
Please provide us with a video of your act (does not have to be a dress rehearsal) so we can see where the number and performance fits in the lineup. We look at the song, your energy, timing and the story you want to convey. We might also spot trigger warnings you may have missed yourself. If you are unable to make a video, please write a detailed description of your act with timestamps.
As far as liquids go: this is limited to fake blood or other substances in that genre as long as it is not dripping on the floor or splashing/ spattering the walls or people. We want to keep the stage as clean as possible for every performer and for the venue as well.
Please add it to your act if there needs to be a cleanup after your performance, so we can prep our Prop Zombies.
Het Bos has a “no confetti/glitter policy”.
Please bring your own mirrors and lights to the backstage.
If chosen, please adhere to the deadlines as we want to prepare for everything as smooth as possible. Ignoring deadlines repeatedly may result in you losing your spot at the show.
